I am a poet, a writer, and a researcher in the area of art, literature and poetry, originally from Afghanistan living in Canada for the past 19 years. I have published one poetry book and numerous articles on literature, society and culture.

I hold a Ph.D. in cultural studies from Trent University and a MA of cultural studies from McMaster University.

I have studied Islam as part of my undergraduate studies and have published research papers on Islam and its relations with the modern world.

I was the publisher and the editor in chief of Atab, a weekly newspaper published during 2002-2003 in Kabul. Aftab was shut down and I was jailed for an article written by myself, called “The Holly Fascism” criticizing the rule of Muslim scholars.
